The Big Community Read is a shared reading initiative that helps communities read together, connect, and improve wellbeing. This shared reading approach brings people together through books, conversation, and shared experience.

Welcome
The Big Community Read helps communities read the same book and talk about it together.
Over a set period of time, people read the book chapter by chapter. Groups then meet to watch a short video from the author and use discussion questions to guide conversation.
All videos and discussion materials are free to access.
The aim is simple: to give communities something good to read and discuss together.
Who it’s for?
The Big Community Read is ideal for groups who already bring people together. But anyone can take part.
It works well in warm spaces, libraries, book clubs, cafés, charities, schools, and local community groups. Reading the same book together creates space for conversation, supports wellbeing, and helps relationships grow.
People can take part at their own pace and in whatever way suits their group.

What we’re reading
Small Steps for Big Change explores how lasting change often begins with small, intentional decisions. Drawing on his own experience of burnout and recovery, Patrick Regan reflects on what it means to live well in a demanding world. Built around three simple ideas — start small, create space, and think differently — the book offers a thoughtful starting point for shared reading and open conversation. Accessible and grounded, it is well suited to groups looking for something reflective, practical, and relevant to everyday life.
